Welcome!
Welcome 4th0.jpg          Monreal.jpg

Hello, and welcome to my fourth grade class! My name is Shannon Brumley-Monreal, but I go by Ms. Brumley for short.

This is my second year a Sun, I teach English reading, writing, and social studies (Texas history!). Before coming to San Jacinto, I have taught for eight years at the elementary and junior high levels. I am passionate about literacy and hope to inspire that in your student. Any notes that I need to send home will either be written in the student's agenda or in the Wednesday (blue) folder.

My conference time is from 8:20-9:10 p.m., and I can be reached by either email, sbrumleymonrea@conroeisd.net, or by message at 281-465-7700. My classroom schedule is below,  and though times are presented, please know that activities may cause them to be altered.

This year, for the most part, my homework will be to have your child reading a book. Independent reading has been proven the best way to improve reading skills. They can check out books from the library or myself. Once they finish a book, they can earn the right to have a reward (their name and book title on a sticker) placed around my room. Students will also have word study lists that they can work with at your descretion.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, if you would like to have for a conference with Mrs. Armacost and me, please sign up here: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0F4DA8A72BA0FD0-msbrumley

Your student will have homework weekly, which will be activities based upon a spelling list and a reading response. The spelling activity should not take more than 5-10 minutes a night, and I request that your student read at least 15-20 minutes per night. The more your student reads, the better his or her comprehension becomes! Homework will be collected on Fridays for a grade.
